Joe Heller

Thoughts about Joe from the community

The community Said

He was very dedicated to the shul. He would walk in the freezing cold. He is warm and resting in Ganeden now.

Joe was a core member of the minyan at the Markham St Shul and he will be missed. I remember driving him home to Spadina Ave after morning minyan and marveling at his commitment to always walk to Shul regardless of the weather. He always asked me about my kids and was thrilled when I brought them to Shul with me.

We will remember Joe Heller for his vision, his strength of character, his kindness and thoughtfulness. He was an integral part of Shaarei Tzedec. He will be sadly missed.

The Dorfman Family

Although we always used to joke that we were not related at all, we had many conversations especially about hazzanut which Joe z'l always loved. We used to bump onto each other on shabbat mornings on College St - a type of Jewish encounter that is now almost a footnote to history.
